Vince Humes

Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit, PA





Vince Humes is currently the Director of Technology Solutions and Services for the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU #5) in Edinboro, PA, a regional service agency serving school districts, vocational/technical schools and charter schools across three counties. He is responsible for all aspects of technology and works closely with IU’s School Improvement Services and Educational Technology Services groups to create technology solutions that benefit the students and staff served by the IU.

Vince has over 30 years of experience in technology with 25 years in K-12.  He has experience in higher education as well as being a Technology Coordinator for a large suburban district.  Vince holds a BS in Business Administration and a Masters in Educational Technology.

Vince’s passion is to create opportunities to connect students, teachers, administrators, and parents through computer networks.  In 2000, he was instrumental in creating a campus-wide network for Gannon University called GU-Connect.  He was part of a three Intermediate Unit consortium that created a 54 entity regional WAN that connects schools over 14 counties together and to the state network PAIUNet.  

Vince serves as a board member for Pennsylvania Instructional Media Services (PAIMS).  He was the first chair of PA state chapter.  Vince also served many times as the President of the Erie Technology Management Association, was a founding member of the Business Information Technology Summit, and is an active member of the Technology Council of Northwest Pennsylvania.
