CoSN invites you to join one of our dynamic Committees, Councils or Educator Advisory panels. Share your expertise and provide input on our current activities by selecting the most appropriate groups for your volunteer service. Information on each committee can be found below.

| CoSN Committees |
Awards: Oversees the CoSN Awards Program, including the CoSN Team Award, the Frank Withrow CTO outstanding educator award, and the Award for Excellence in Public Service.
Emerging Technologies: Develops resources for members on emerging technologies that have the potential to significantly impact K-12 education, including exploration, implementation and dissemination.
Membership Marketing: Assists in creating a unified and coherent marketing message and strategy for CoSN. Projects and programs include membership recruitment and retention, promotion of CoSN initiatives, the CoSN Compendium, and other collateral development and review.
Meetings and Events: Oversees CoSN’s live and virtual meetings/events. Develops overall theme and structure of CoSN’s Annual Conference (including speaker selection, special events, as well as exhibit and sponsorship programs). Also plans CoSN’s webinar series.
Technical: Advises CoSN on issues relating to standards/interoperability and other technical leadership issues around use of technology in schools.

Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Council: The CTO Council oversees professional development for key technology leaders from the school district level.
Corporate Council: The Corporate Council is an informal network for all CoSN corporate members.

| Leadership Initiative Advisory Panels |
Membership on these panels is open to current CoSN Corporate Sponsors, institutional and individual members.
Cyber-Security and IT Crisis Preparedness: This initiative focuses on ensuring the security of school networks. Additionally, it seeks to address a district's overall business continuity planning and the accompanying response structure and focuses on the role of technology leaders, identifying best practices and developing strategies for shutdown and startup of critical services.
Data-driven Decision Making (3D): Provides resources focused on use of data to personalize learning.
Leadership for Mobile Learning: CoSN’s newest
initiative addresses the capacity of district leadership to overcome the
barriers and develop, plan, implement and manage policies to
effectively use mobile devices for the improvement of teaching and
learning.
Mastering the Moment: This initiative seeks to help superintendents and CTOs/district technology leaders succeed in this economic by helping learn to do more with less. The ongoing economic crisis actually presents not just challenges, but also tremendous opportunities to strengthen technology investments, operations, programs, plans, staffs and results.
Participatory Learning in Schools: Based on the recognition that Web 2.0 tools provide powerful
learning resources for our students, preparing them for the world
beyond the classroom. The purpose of this initiative is to assist
schools and communities to adapt to this new reality.
Small Schools Ed Tech Leadership: Provides resources for
technology leaders working in school districts with less than 2,500
students, charter and private schools.
Shift from Print to Digital: This initiative supports the valuable use of digital learning resources that enable effective 24/7 teaching and learning environments for students and educators. With a focus on improved learning, this initiative will provide leadership, tools and resources for effective collaboration among district curriculum and technology leaders in order to plan, evaluate and implement effective teaching and learning.
Empowering the 21st Century Superintendent: Helps
superintendents explore why they should care about technology and how it
can advance their district’s mission.
