Join Larry Johnson, CEO of the New Media Consortium Group and Founder of the Horizon Project, who will discuss the six emerging technologies that will have the biggest impact on learning in the next year, two years, and three years. Joining Dr. Johnson on this one-hour webinar will be Jim Vanides, Education Program Manager, HP, and Jean Tower, CoSN Chair and Director of Technology, Public Schools of Northborough & Southborough, MA. This edition of the Horizon Report is a collaboration with the New Media Consortium Group, CoSN, and ISTE.

Larry Johnson, CEO
New Media Consortium

Dr. Johnson  is an acknowledged expert on emerging technology and its impacts on society and education, and has written five books, seven chapters, and published more than 50 papers and research reports on the topic. He speaks regularly on  the topics of creativity, innovation, and technology trends, and has delivered more than 75 keynote addresses to a long list of distinguished groups and organizations all over the world.  He is the founder of the Horizon Project, which produces the acclaimed series of Horizon Reports that are used by over a million educators in more than 100 countries.

Johnson currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the New Media Consortium, an international not-for-profit consortium dedicated to the exploration and use of new media and new technologies, and Director of the Edward and Betty Marcus Institute for Digital Education in the Arts (MIDEA). The NMC's and MIDEA's hundreds of member institutions constitute an elite list of the most highly regarded universities, museums, and research centers in the world.

Jim Vanides is a member of the HP Office of Global Social Innovation, responsible for worldwide education philanthropy strategy and programs. This includes the 2010 HP Catalyst Initiative (www.hp.com/go/hpcatalyst) and the 2009 HP Innovations in Education initiative.

Southborough, MA 

Jean Tower is currently the Director of Technology for the Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough, MA, a regional school district of ten schools serving the two towns, grades PK to 12. She is responsible for all aspects of technology in the schools – administrative and instructional, planning, budgeting, and professional development. Her primary interest is in effective integration of technology in the curriculum and in creating the essential conditions to enable that to happen. Jean is CoSN’s current chair-elect.
