HIGHLIGHT SPEAKERS
Richard Culatta
is a leader in the field of educational innovation. As Deputy Director
of the Office of Educational Technology for the US Department of
Education, his work focuses on enabling personalized learning for all
students and accelerating innovations in educational technologies. Prior
to joining the Department of Education, he served as an education
policy advisor to US Senator Patty Murray. Culatta also focuses on
leveraging social media to create effective large‐scale
distributed learning environments. As Chief Technology Officer at CIA
University, Culatta developed a collaborative online learning platform
to extend training opportunities to CIA officers worldwide. Before his
work with the federal government, Culatta was the learning technologies
advisor for the David O. McKay School of Education at Brigham Young
University and the Director of Operations for the Rose Education
Foundation.
John Keller currently
serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Technology for the Indiana
Department of Education. As part of State Superintendent Dr. Tony
Bennett’s senior staff, John oversees educational technology for the
state. Prior experience includes project leadership in the design,
development, and deployment of productivity tools for teachers. John has
also taught as an adjunct professor for Indiana Wesleyan and Ball State
University in topics ranging from technology integration to curriculum
and assessment. Six years as a classroom teacher served as the
foundation for his interest in teaching and education.
Keith R. Krueger is CEO of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), a nonprofit organization that serves as the voice of K‐12
school system technology leaders in North America. CoSN’s mission is
empowering educational leaders to leverage technology to realize
engaging learning environments. In 2008 he was selected by eSchool News
as one of ten people who have had a profound impact on educational
technology over the last decade. Keith has a global reputation as a key
thought leader and has organized senior level U.S. delegations to visit
Australia, Asia, Europe and South America to examine best practice in
ICT in education.
Ann Ware
serves as an educational consultant to local school districts, local and
national educational organizations and the private sector. She has
worked in the Georgia K‐12
educational community for thirty plus years with experiences at the
classroom, school, district, and state level. For ten years, she served
Henry County Schools as the Director of Technology Services and fostered
the value of strong school improvement relationships among district and
school leaders. She served the state in her work at the Georgia
Department of Education (GaDOE) while working as the Associate
Superintendent for Instruction and then the Interim Deputy
Superintendent for Technology Services.
Mark Weston
has spent the past 36 years working to enhance education for all
students. During that time, Mark served in key positions at Dell Inc.,
Apple Computer, and Education Commission of the States, United States
Department of Education, United States House of Representatives,
National Conference of State Legislatures, and several school districts
in Iowa. Mark advises leaders about education, ICT, and public policy
strategies. He has consulted with 13 countries, 42 state legislatures,
the United States Congress, dozens of companies, and hundreds of school
districts. Mark’s work has been published in a wide range of outlets
including Converge, Education Week, Journal of Educational
Administration, Independent School, Journal of Ethnographic and
Qualitative Research in Education, Journal of Technology Learning and
Assessment, Phi Delta Kappan, Los Angeles Times, SecEd, State
Legislature, and Washington Times. Mark is a co‐author with Alan Bain of The Learning Edge: How Technology Can HelpEducateAllChildren.
