Keith R. Krueger is CEO of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), a nonprofit organization that serves as the voice of K12 school system technology leaders in North America. CoSN’s mission is empowering educational leaders to leverage technology to realize engaging learning environments. In 2008 he was selected by eSchool News as one of ten people who have had a profound impact on educational technology over the past decade. Keith has a global reputation as a key thought leader and has organized senior level U.S. delegations to visit Australia, Asia, Europe and South America to examine best practice in ICT in education.
Bailey Mitchell is the Chief Technology and Information Officer for Forsyth County Schools and is responsible for both the educational and administrative technology enterprise, with a focus on online learning, collaborative classrooms, parent communication, and teacher support. Mitchell’s technology enterprise is nationally recognized as a leader in educational technology. Prior to Forsyth County Schools, Mitchell served as Director of Instructional Technology at the Georgia Department of Education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in career and technology education and a master’s in educational administration, curriculum, and supervision from the University of Georgia.
William Powers is the author of the New York Times bestseller, Hamlet’s BlackBerry, praised as a “refreshing” (Publishers Weekly), “wise” (Simon Winchester) and “brilliant” (Bob Woodward) handbook for the Internet Age. An inspiring and entertaining storyteller, Powers shows how we can make better, smarter use of the latest technologies, by changing how we think about them. He has been featured in dozens of major news outlets, including interviews with Katie Couric, Diane Rehm, Good Morning America, NPR’s Morning Edition, the PBS NewsHour and the BBC, and stories in The New Yorker, USA Today, Wired, The Guardian and many other publications. Powers has been a speaker at such high-profile venues as South By Southwest, the Aspen Festival of Ideas, Google and Facebook. Reporting on one of his dynamic presentations, The New York Times called him an “apostle” of the next wave of digital thinking. The influential Brain Pickings website named Hamlet’s BlackBerry one of “7 Must-Read Books about the Internet Future.” It has been translated into many languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German and Russian.
Powers graduated from Harvard magna cum laude with a degree in history and literature, and did graduate study in Spain as a Rotary International Scholar. He began his career as an aide to U.S. Senator John Chafee for foreign relations, intelligence and military affairs. He then joined the Washington Post’s investigative unit, and subsequently covered business, media, ideas and other topics as a Post staff writer and columnist. His writings have also appeared in The Atlantic, The New York Times and many other publications. He is a two-time winner of the National Press Club’s Rowse Award for best American media commentary. He has been a fellow at Harvard’s Shorenstein Center and the MacDowell Colony, and he studied the technology culture of Japan on a traveling fellowship from the Japan Society of New York.
