The CTO Leadership Forums are held twice a year; at the CoSN Annual Conference and at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)
Annual Conference. The Forums provide opportunities for district-level
technology directors to stay current on best practices and solutions to
the challenges they are facing in the education technology arena. CTO
Forum Reports are written after each event. Access the Knowledge Center to read these members-only publications.

The "Undiscussables" of Technology Leadership: Engaging in Challenging Conversations

CTOs can often times face challenges in leading conversations with the teaching and learning side of their school districts. Providing leadership to make real changes to the learning landscape can be one of the “undiscussable” issues you face. Through a series of panel discussions and work groups CTO Leadership Forum explores these and other challenges confronting today's CTOs on their journey in becoming audacious leaders and addresses trending questions:
-
As you retool and move beyond technical skills to become an instructional leader, how do you position yourself to be an equal partner with curriculum, instruction and assessment colleagues?
-
Are you advocating for the elimination of the traditional textbook adoption process in order to speed up the transition to digital content?
-
How do we move beyond myopic focus on high stakes test results to empower students and teachers with data to inform learning? How can technology be used to reach a more comprehensive understanding of student achievement?
-
What role should you play in facilitating the move from traditional face-to-face staff development to more blended, online, collaborative opportunities for leader and teacher professional growth?
This session is open only to current institutional and corporate members. To register for the Forum, check the appropriate box on the conference registration.
