CoSN is pleased to announce two new leadership initiatives at
CoSN 2011: Mastering the Moment, Leadership for Mobile Learning (
LML and
Online Community of Practice for Innovative Approaches to Providing Access in K-12 Districts). These projects will arm CoSN members with important information needed to make strategic decisions in their districts.
The Leadership for Mobile Learning initiative will focus on the implications of mobility in educational settings with the intent of providing comprehensive resources for school leadership. We will be exploring how mobility changes teaching and learning as well as its impact on the digital divide. Deliverables from this project will include timely news updates, planning guides, and case studies profiling exemplary school districts and leaders. The mobile market is exploding, and given that many students already own mobile devices, there is no time like the present to explore the potential of these tools.
This blog will support the efforts of LML, so stay tuned for updates related to mobility as well as comments from our educator advisory panel. CoSN members are actively engaged in mobile learning programs, and we will highlighting their work throughout this initiative.
We encourage CoSN members to become involved in our work so that we can develop a comprehensive picture of current efforts in school districts. Consider telling us about mobile learning in your district by submitting your story
here.
At CoSN, we also believe in the power of leveraging Web 2.0 tools and have created a
Diigo social bookmarking group and a
subgroup of our LinkedIn group devoted to the topic of mobile learning. Share and identify resources in these spaces, and also network with others. Our collective expertise will inform and broaden the scope of this initiative.
We're excited about the potential of this initiative and we look forward to sharing our work with you!
