Washington, DC (June 10, 2013) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) today opened registration and is accepting presentations for its 2014 Annual Conference, themed “Continuously Connected…Constantly Learning,” (March 19-22, 2014, Washington, DC). Exploring today’s hyper-connected world and how K-12 leaders can create digital learning ecosystems, the conference will allow education leaders from across the world to share innovative ideas and perspectives on the changing role of education in the 21st century.

“We live in an age where everyone is constantly in touch, sharing ideas, stories, images, videos and other media every minute of every day, and, for many, discovering ways to make our culture even more innovative and interactive,” said Pat Haughney, 2014 Conference Chair, and Director of Information Services, Barrington CUSD 220, Barrington, IL. “The 2014 Conference will focus on our hyper-connected environment and how
educators can harness this energy and connection to enrich the learning experience for all students today and beyond.”

Bringing together school system and industry leaders and experts, policymakers, nonprofit organizations and community members from around the world, the annual conference will give attendees a better understanding of the changing roles of K-12 leaders in creating a transformative educational environment that is based on continuous connectivity. All interested presenters are asked to highlight two skills included in CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills and should tie their presentations to one of the following conference focus areas:

  • Ubiquity & Access
  • Leadership & Vision
  • Pioneering Innovation

With the fiscal year ending on June 30, school leaders should use their state and federal funds for professional development before it is too late. CoSN is offering two summer registration packages for those who would like to reserve their places using fiscal year-end funds. Package #1 – $699 for CoSN members and $849 for nonmembers – includes THREE days of professional development (includes full annual conference, plus additional pre- or post-conference special events, including full-day CoSN / UNESCO International Symposium on March 19 or two half-day workshops/events on March 19 or 22). Package #2 – $1599 for CoSN members and $1749 for non-members – includes the above three-day registration package, plus THREE nights of lodging at the Washington Hilton, the conference hotel. Additional nights of lodging are available. The full conference registration site will launch in September 2013.

In addition, for the first time, the CoSN annual conference will be produced by 1105 Media. All media interested in attending CoSN 2014 should contact Michael Kaplun at michaelkaplun@cosn.org or Jennifer Cummings at jcummings@cosn.org.
