Washington, DC (April 2, 2013) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) is inviting education technology leaders nationwide to join its exclusive network, Teaming for Transformation II. The second phase of CoSN’s Teaming for Transformation initiative, Teaming for Transformation II connects teams of K-12 district leaders who are committed to a digital conversion that supports student-centered learning in a transformative educational environment. The deadline for submissions is May 30, 2013, and applications are available at: http://bit.ly/teamingfortransformation.

“In today’s tech-oriented culture, school leaders must better leverage their efforts, including successes and failures, to enhance the K-12 learning experience,” said Ann Ware, Project Director for CoSN. “The second ‘Teaming for Transformation’ network will provide participants with a unique blended learning opportunity to regularly share their ideas and practices and explore digitally based districts. Each member’s contributions will play an important role in creating an educational landscape that impacts and elevates student achievement across the country.”

From June through October, Teaming for Transformation II members will engage face-to-face and virtually on epic-ed – a national online community of practice. A key component of the network’s face-to-face engagement will be a two-day visit to Katy ISD (TX), one of the premier districts leading a digital conversion through mobile learning. The visit will allow participants to hear Superintendent Casey Wardynski from Huntsville City Schools (AL)and other national thought leaders’ recommendations for transforming the culture of teaching and learning.

Examples of topics to be explored by district leadership teams in Teaming for Transformation II face-to-face and virtual collaboration include:

  • Strategic re-allocation/alignment of financial resources;
  • Building relationships with community;
  • Professional development for transforming the culture of teaching and learning; and
  • Preparing for and supporting the infrastructure for a digital conversion.

The network will conclude at CoSN’s 19th Annual Conference in March 2014, at which time members will refine and share their plans for a rich digital learning environment.

Informed by CoSN’s Empowering the 21st Century Superintendent initiative, Teaming for Transformation II is sponsored by Pearson and produced in partnership with the American Association of School Administrators, epic-ed, Huntsville City Schools (AL) and Katy ISD (TX).
