Washington, DC (January 13, 2016) – CoSN (the Consortium for School Networking) today launched a virtual course to prepare practicing or aspiring education technology leaders from afar for the Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL®) program exam.

Facilitated by distinguished faculty, the new National CETL Study Course comprises 11 weekly sessions that lead up to the CETL exam at the CoSN 2016 Annual Conference in Washington, DC, April 4-7.

Introduced nearly three years ago, the CETL is the world’s first aspirational certification for school system technology leaders. The certification has been designated to 185 district technology leaders across 26 states.

“The CETL program continues to grow as the symbol of education leadership in supporting an e-learning culture. This first-of-its-kind virtual study program further enhances the program’s commitment and ability to strengthen the human capacity of school system leaders nationwide,” said Keith Krueger, CEO of CoSN.

Leveraging CoSN’s Online Collaborative Learning Suite, the course will explore each of the key areas identified in the Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO: Leadership and Vision; Strategic Planning; Ethics and Policies; Instructional Focus and Professional Development; Team Building and Staffing; Stakeholder Focus; Information Technology Management; Communication Systems Management; Business Management; and Data Management.

In September, the CETL Program received new underwriting by the Morgridge Family Foundation and renewed support by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
