Alleviate the Summer Slide

At the end of each school year, many students are anxious to be done with homework, projects, and other graded assignments and are content with spending their summer vacation doing anything that requires learning. According to Oxford Learning, “On average, students lose 2 months of reading skills over the summer.” This means it’s essentials for students to keep their minds active and engaged all summer long.

In collaboration with the Learning First Alliance, we’ve asked a number of our members to share tips on how their school districts have implemented programs to lessen the likelihood of "Summer Slide". A series of blog posts and resources will be posted on this page to help overcome this challenging situation.
