Free Cyber Security Tools: Available This Month Only!

In between the changing leaves and Halloween festivities this October, take some time to celebrate the 10th Annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month with CoSN! Our Cyber Security for the Digital District initiative focuses on cyber security year-round, and October is the perfect time to take advantage of its resources and protect yourself against digital threats.

Our resources include a self-assessment checklist, a cyber security rubric, and a district-wide action plan that focuses on four critical infrastructure components: management, technology, business continuity, and stakeholder/end-user engagement. For this month only, they're available as free downloads at www.cosn.org/cybersecurity.

For even more information about Cyber Security, check out two of our most recent EdTechNext Reports. Published earlier this year, “Security and Privacy of Cloud Computing” covers the privacy, security and regulatory compliance impact of Software as a Service (SaaS), including the risks and realities and considerations for managing dangers. A 2012 report, “Safe & Secure? Managing the Risks of Personal Devices,” takes a look at how to safeguard a district’s students, staff, devices and IT infrastructure in the context of mobile learning and bring your own device initiatives. The publications are member-only, but let us know if you would like more information.
