  • A Brief History of CoSN Chapters...

CoSN is in the process of creating state chapters to better meet the needs of school district CTOs. In 2004, CoSN changed our bylaws to enable this development and approved the Texas K-12 CTO Council as our first state chapter. In some states, such as Texas, founding a chapter involves the creation of a new nonprofit organization. In other states, such as California, we are working with new divisions of existing education technology nonprofits. In all cases, we require a strong chapter model with unified dues to build a stronger voice for educational technology leaders.

For more information about becoming a CoSN state chapter, please contact Keith Krueger at keith@cosn.org or 866.267.8747 x118.

Special thanks to our chapter sponsors:

CoSN California Council (3C Council, CETPA)

    Affiliated with CETPA

Background: CETPA was established in 1960, when the first generation of vacuum-tube based computers was giving way to the second generation using transistors. Fast forwarding to the present, K-12 technology systems encompass all aspects of administrative and instructional information processing requirements. The association’s goal is to increase information sharing and communication among K-12 technologists on technology-related issues. In March of 2006, CETPA agreed to form a partnership with CoSN to create a California CTO Council better to serve the needs of district level technology decision makers in the state.
