High-stakes online assessments, most notably the Common Core State Standards, are poised to launch over the next two years. It's a daunting task to get technology up to code, but there are steps schools and districts can take to ensure that their IT is ready to handle new online assessments. CoSN, ENA, and the eLearn Institute have developed a Becoming Assessment Ready Toolkit as part of our overall efforts to ensure all districts can make the transition smoothly. We will continue to work with districts and CCSS leaders to give all students a chance for college and career readiness.

As the saying goes, “Success is when preparation meets opportunity.” Access a list of key readiness recommendations for becoming assessment ready, each of which is accompanied by a checklist of items for school districts to consider as they prepare for online assessments.

 

 

Detailed case studies of three school districts – Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in Tennessee, Metropolitan School District of Warren Township in Indiana, and West Side School District #202 in Idaho – will be included in the suite of resources. The case studies capture experiences, recommendations, and best practices as the districts prepared for online assessments.

CoSN and the e-Learn Institute conducted an online survey, directing key questions to school districts. They took the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) or concerns from their responses and posed them to the Smarter Balanced and PARCC consortia. Have questions or concerns?
