Horizon Wimba’s Voice Discussion Board allows learners to discuss topics using both text chat and audio.
Basic Technical Requirements:
- Java (should already be installed if you’re using Vista)
- PC headphones or speakers
- PC microphone
- A Voice Tools Setup Wizard checks your system for all technical requirements and settings. To use the setup wizard, click on the Voice Discussions icon.

- After you have run the setup wizard to confirm that your browser is configured, you are ready to Post
Logging in
- To post to the discussion board, simply enter your name or online nickname. There is no password required (except for administrators).

Listening to a Voice Board Message
- After launching the discussion board, click on the posted message that appears in the top part of the Voice Board window.
- Click the play button that appears in the center right area of the Voice Board window.

Posting a New Message (or a Reply)
- To post a new message or a reply to an existing message click the appropriate button in the top left corner of the Voice Board window. A compose or reply window launches.
- To begin recording, click on the record button and speak into the microphone.

- To end the recording, click on the stop button. (You can also pause, play back and re-record using the appropriate buttons.)

- Enter a text message if desired by typing in the text chat area.
- When finished with the message, click Send to post it to the Voice Discussion Board.
