Tasks
- Supporting the equipment of schools with computer hardware
- Providing teachers with the skills for using new media in education

Organisational structure
Responsibility for the operational side of e-nitiative.nrw is shared between the Project office and the Media
consultancy department of the Rhineland Media Centre and the Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
Strategic control over the e-nitiative.nrw is in the hands of a committee chaired by undersecretary, Dr.
Wolfgang Meyer-Hesemann (MSWF), and composed of prominent experts.
At the local level, 54 'e-teams.nrw' advise and assist schools, teachers bodies maintaining schools authorities on all aspects of new media teaching, media development planning and qualifications.
Funding in 2002
- € 500 million flat-rate for equipping schools; provided to councils under the Local Government (Funding) Act
- € 8,3 million for software, equipment and infrastructure for vocational training colleges (proceeds from the auction of UMTS frequencies)
- € 3,5 million for software and online resources and materials
- € 2 million for continuing education and training, e-team.nrw
