CoSN Releases Outcomes of 2013 K-12 Technology Leadership Forums

Washington, DC (November 14, 2013) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) today released two follow-up reports on the association’s 2013 Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Leadership Forums held in March and June 2013. The first CTO forum report, titled “The ‘Undiscussables’ of Technology Leadership: Engaging in Challenging Conversations,” examines the primary district-level leadership challenges facing CTOs from elevating their districts’ learning environments.

CTOs' job descriptions in 2013 would have been unthinkable twenty years ago. As technology transforms education and the world, leaders have had to evolve along with it. Keith Krueger, CoSN's CEO, says "In 1992 Price Waterhouse [assessed] that 80 percent of the job of any CIO was technical. In schools, that was 'wires in the boxes.' Today, that's about 20 percent of the job. The other 80 percent is providing leadership, vision, and an understanding of the educational environment."

CoSN Accepting Applications for Inaugural Administration of CETL Certification Exam

Washington, DC (January 23, 2012) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) is now accepting applications for the first-ever administration of its Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) Certification Exam, which will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2012, prior to the CoSN Annual Conference 2012 kickoff in Washington, DC.

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Associate Superintendent Harold Rowe Recipient of CoSN’s 2012 Withrow Award

Washington, DC (March 7, 2012) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) today announced that Harold Rowe, the Associate Superintendent for Technology and School Services at Houston, TX-based Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD), is the winner of its 2012 Withrow Award. Rowe was honored for his visionary leadership in leveraging technology to transcend education throughout the district.
