SUMMARY:Application Window Open: CTO Academy for K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs 2023-24 Cohort Deadline Extended to 9/9 midnight
DESCRIPTION:The CTO Academy For K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs is a program to address the needs of education technology leaders who are new (less than four full years) to their CTO or Technology Leadership position or aspiring CTOs and EdTech leaders currently working in a technology department. Participants will have the opportunity to develop edtech leadership skills including; managing diverse teams\, leading a variety of projects simultaneously\, and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders. Academy participants make a positive impact on student-centered and digital learning in their school district and enhance their career trajectory. \n \nThe program extends from October 1- June 1\, 2025. \n\nThis program was developed through public and private sector leaders\, district CTOs and edtech leaders to address current professional development needs and thought partner support for aspiring and early-career CTO and EdTech leaders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please email:\nJill Brown\, jbrown@cosn.org CoSN Director of Professional Learning \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS:\nParticipants in CoSN’s CTO Academy For K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs will benefit from a blended learning model consisting of:\nMentorship – a thought partner/mentor to match your specific needs that is a seasoned professional with at least 5 years that extends from October 1- June 1\, 2025.\nTwo virtual events per month that include deep-dive discussions and practical content and activities.\nMonthly “News You Can Use”.\nCapstone project (select projects will be featured at the CoSN2025 Conference)\nA private online community consisting of past and current cohort members and mentors.\nRegistration for CoSN2025.\nA face-to-face event at the CoSN2025 Conference.\n\nELIGIBILITY AND TIMELINE:\nNew career K-12 chief technology officers (CTOs) and technology leaders with fewer than 4 years of experience or aspiring technology leaders who are already working in a technology department at a school are invited to apply.\nThe application deadline is EXTENDED TO September 9th\, 2024\, at midnight EST.\nRegistration Fee: $2\,599* members. DESCRIPTION:CoSN is pleased to offer the first-ever education technology leader project management course that focuses on the unique needs and challenges of school system technology leaders. Using thought leadership resources and best practices\, this course is aligned to CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills for the K-12 Chief Technology Officer (CTO)\, the foundation for the nationally-accredited Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) Program. Its structure and content are also based on the Project Management Institute’s A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) – Sixth Edition – a global industry standard for project management and the most widely recognized project management model for business and government. \nThis seven-week course provides participants with high-quality\, practical and wide-ranging protocols and resources that empower responsive and scalable project management practices. Course content references effective methodologies rooted in research and correlated to the K-12 environment through a practical lens. \nApril 16th – May 28th\, 2024\nAll classes are Tuesdays 2:00 – 3:30 ET\nParticipants will learn the fundamentals of project management through seven modules:\nModule 1: Introduction\nModule 2: Project Initiation\nModule 3: Scope\, Schedule and Budget Plan\nModule 4: Resource\, Risk and Procurement Plan\nModule 5: Leadership and Quality Management\nModule 6: Monitor and Control\nModule 7: Closing and Success \nParticipants successfully completing the course will receive a Certificate of Completion\, earn 9 CEA Credits toward CETL® recertification and have access to the course materials for one full year. \nThis course is regularly updated with current information by co-instructors Cory Stokes and Frankie Jackson. CoSN has designed an online course focusing on enterprise security issues for school technology staff. Learn the fundamentals of IT security and provide advanced persistent protection for your students’ information. \nThis seven-week facilitated online course will help IT staff learn the fundamentals of IT security and improve their understanding of enterprise security issues.  The content is comprised of three modules – 1) Network Security\, 2) Risks and Controls\, and 3) Vulnerabilities and Mitigation.
