SUMMARY:CETL® K-12 CTO's Framework of Essential Skills Foundation Facilitated Online Course Fall 2025
DESCRIPTION:CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO is comprised of three primary professional categories in the education technology field: Leadership & Vision\, Understanding the Educational Environment\, and Managing Technology & Support Resources.  Each of these categories includes 10 essential skill areas\, outlining the responsibilities and knowledge needed to be a viable educational technology leader. Each of these skills and the related knowledge needed to demonstrate them are included in CoSN’s Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL®) certification exam.\n\nThis course meets online every *Tuesday from Oct 7th – Dec 16th\, 2025\, from 4:00- 5:30 PM ET\n*Sessions are recorded if you are unable to make an individual session.\n\n10/7 Introduction\n10/14 Skill Area1: Leadership and Vision\n10/21 Skill Area 2: Strategic Planning\n10/28 Skill Area 3: Ethics and Policies\n11/4 Skill Area 4: Instructional Focus and Professional Development\n11/11 Skill Area 5: Team Building and Staffing\n11/18 Skill Area 6: Information Technology Management\n11/25 Skill Area 7: Communication Systems Management\n12/2 Skill Area 8: Business Management\n12/9 Skill Area 9: Data Management\n12/16 Skill Area 10: Data Privacy and Security \n\n\nOur subject matter experts and instructors regularly update this course with current information. The CETL®  program is governed by the CETL®  Certification Governance Committee\, an independent certifying body of CoSN. In adherence to best practices for certifying bodies\, CETL®  Certification Governance Committee volunteers and CETL®  Certification staff are not involved in the development of any preparatory program\, and no preparatory program is endorsed by the CETL®  Certification Governance Committee nor is a prerequisite to earn the CETL®.
