SUMMARY:Application Window Open: CTO Academy for K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs 2026-27 - Open Until Full
DESCRIPTION:The CTO Academy For K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs is a program to address the needs of education technology leaders who are new (less than four full years) to their CTO or Technology Leadership position or aspiring CTOs and EdTech leaders currently working in a technology department. Participants will have the opportunity to develop edtech leadership skills including; managing diverse teams\, leading a variety of projects simultaneously\, and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders. Academy participants make a positive impact on student-centered and digital learning in their school district and enhance their career trajectory. \n \nThe program extends from October 1\, 2026 – June 1\, 2027. \n\nThis program was developed through public and private sector leaders\, district CTOs and edtech leaders to address current professional development needs and thought partner support for aspiring and early-career CTO and EdTech leaders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please email:\nJill Brown\, jbrown@cosn.org CoSN Director of Professional Learning \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS:\nParticipants in CoSN’s CTO Academy For K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs will benefit from a blended learning model consisting of:\nMentorship – a thought partner/mentor to match your specific needs that is a seasoned professional with at least 5 years that extends from October 1\, 2026-June 1\, 2027.\nTwo virtual events per month that include deep-dive discussions and practical content and activities.\nMonthly “News You Can Use”.\nProject Overview Presentation (select projects will be featured at the CoSN2027 Conference)\nA private online community consisting of past and current cohort members and mentors.\nRegistration for CoSN2027.\nA face-to-face event at the CoSN2027 Conference.\n\nELIGIBILITY AND TIMELINE:\nNew career K-12 chief technology officers (CTOs) and technology leaders with fewer than 4 years of experience or aspiring technology leaders who are already working in a technology department at a school are invited to apply.\nApplications are open until full.\nRegistration Fee: $3\,999* members. Fees include program\, materials\, and registration for the COSN2026 Conference. SUMMARY:Project Management for K-12 School System Technology Leaders Facilitated Online Course Spring 2026
DESCRIPTION:CoSN is pleased to offer the first-ever project management course that focuses on the unique needs and challenges of school system technology leaders. Using thought leadership resources and best practices\, this course is aligned to CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills for the K-12 Chief Technology Officer (CTO)\, the foundation for the nationally-accredited Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) program. Its structure and content are also based on the Project Management Institute’s A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) – Sixth Edition – a global industry standard for project management and the most widely recognized project management model for business and government. Syllabus \nThe pedagogical approach in the design of this course offers learners rich content\, including prerecorded class instruction that may be viewed before online class sessions. This approach provides greater opportunities to learn in a dynamic\, interactive learning environment where project management concepts may be applied to current education projects that are underway or planned soon. As a result\, class learners are actively involved in knowledge construction that is personally meaningful and can be used in their current job. \n\n\nRegistrations open through Feb. 24th!\nThis course meets online every *Tuesday from Feb. 17th – March 31st\, 2026\, from  10:00- 11:30 AM ET. (Previously 12:00 – 1:30 PM ET)\n*Sessions are recorded if you are unable to make an individual session.\n\nParticipants successfully completing the course will receive a Certificate of Completion\, earn 9 CEA Credits toward CETL® recertification\, and have access to the course materials for one full year.\n\nCo-instructors Cory Stokes and Frankie Jackson regularly update this course with current information.
