SUMMARY:Application Window Open: CTO Academy for K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs 2026-27 - Open Until Full
DESCRIPTION:The CTO Academy For K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs is a program to address the needs of education technology leaders who are new (less than four full years) to their CTO or Technology Leadership position or aspiring CTOs and EdTech leaders currently working in a technology department. Participants will have the opportunity to develop edtech leadership skills including; managing diverse teams\, leading a variety of projects simultaneously\, and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders. Academy participants make a positive impact on student-centered and digital learning in their school district and enhance their career trajectory. \n \nThe program extends from October 1\, 2026 – June 1\, 2027. \n\nThis program was developed through public and private sector leaders\, district CTOs and edtech leaders to address current professional development needs and thought partner support for aspiring and early-career CTO and EdTech leaders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please email:\nJill Brown\, jbrown@cosn.org CoSN Director of Professional Learning \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS:\nParticipants in CoSN’s CTO Academy For K-12 Early Career and Aspiring CTOs will benefit from a blended learning model consisting of:\nMentorship – a thought partner/mentor to match your specific needs that is a seasoned professional with at least 5 years that extends from October 1\, 2026-June 1\, 2027.\nTwo virtual events per month that include deep-dive discussions and practical content and activities.\nMonthly “News You Can Use”.\nProject Overview Presentation (select projects will be featured at the CoSN2027 Conference)\nA private online community consisting of past and current cohort members and mentors.\nRegistration for CoSN2027.\nA face-to-face event at the CoSN2027 Conference.\n\nELIGIBILITY AND TIMELINE:\nNew career K-12 chief technology officers (CTOs) and technology leaders with fewer than 4 years of experience or aspiring technology leaders who are already working in a technology department at a school are invited to apply.\nApplications are open until full.\nRegistration Fee: $3\,999* members. DESCRIPTION:  \nWhat can the information technology professional do to secure school systems’ information infrastructure? CoSN has designed an online course focusing on enterprise security issues for school technology staff. Learn the fundamentals of IT security and provide advanced persistent protection for your students’ information. \nThis facilitated online course will help IT staff learn the fundamentals of IT security and improve their understanding of enterprise security issues. The content is comprised of three modules – 1) Network Security\, 2) Risks and Controls\, and 3) Vulnerabilities and Mitigation. There are also to-do activities such as reflection questions and extending your learning as well as summative assessments after each module. This course meets online every Wednesday from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM ET Sept 9 – Nov 18\, 2026 (No class on 9/30\, 10/7\, 11/11). \nOur subject matter expert and instructor regularly updates this course with current information.
