Workshop Content: The day will be organized around three key themes:
  1. Prevention
  2. Intervention
  3. Incident Response Strategies

Following a kickoff keynote by seasoned IT security professional Ryan Cloutier, participants will be challenged to work together to discuss:
  • How to build a security program from nothing
  • How to avoiding being overwhelmed
  • How to best build relationships to accomplish what you need across the district
  • What happens when nobody is watching?
  • How to develop awareness programs
  • How to align security and privacy work in districts
To cap off the day, participants will take part in a tabletop exercise, working through the process of responding to a cybersecurity incident on a student information system as it occurs. Following the exercise, you’ll have an opportunity to de-brief and identify lessons learned that will help you prepare for and respond to an actual breach.

Participants in this exciting event will leave with practical, actionable strategies for improving their school system’s IT security posture. You’ll have ample opportunity to network with other K12 IT professionals and learn how they are tackling similar challenges.
