DESCRIPTION:CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO is comprised of three primary professional categories in the education technology field: Leadership & Vision\, Understanding the Educational Environment\, and Managing Technology & Support Resources. Each of these categories includes 10 essential skill areas\, outlining the responsibilities and knowledge needed to be a viable educational technology leader. Each of these skills and the related knowledge needed to demonstrate them are included in CoSN’s Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL®) certification exam. \nThis course meets online every Thursday from May 20th – August 5th\, 2027 from 4:00- 5:30 PM ET. \n5/20 Introduction\n5/27 Skill Area 1: Leadership and Vision\n6/3 Skill Area 2: Strategic Planning\n6/10 Skill Area 3: Ethics and Policies\n6/17 Skill Area 4: Instructional Focus and Professional Development\n6/24 Skill Area 5: Team Building and Staffing\n7/1 No Class due to Holiday\n7/10 Skill Area 6: Information Technology Management\n7/17 Skill Area 7: Communication Systems Management\n7/24 Skill Area 8: Business Management\n7/29 Skill Area 9: Data Management\n8/5 Skill Area 10: Data Privacy and Security \nOur subject matter experts and instructors regularly update this course with current information. DESCRIPTION:What can the information technology professional do to secure school systems’ information infrastructure? CoSN has designed an online course focusing on enterprise security issues for school technology staff. Learn the fundamentals of IT security and provide advanced persistent protection for your students’ information. \nThis seven-week facilitated online course will help IT staff learn the fundamentals of IT security and improve their understanding of enterprise security issues. The content is comprised of three modules – 1) Network Security\, 2) Risks and Controls\, and 3) Vulnerabilities and Mitigation. There are also to-do activities such as reflection questions and extending your learning as well as summative assessments after each module.
