Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions to the panelists during the live broadcast. \nAbout the Presenters \nDoug Straley is the proud superintendent for Louisa County Public Schools and is now in his sixth year in the leadership role. A lifelong native of Louisa County\, Doug has served in a multitude of roles for his hometown school division\, including as a teacher\, coach\, assistant principal\, principal\, athletics director\, assistant superintendent\, and now superintendent. \nAs the superintendent\, Doug has worked to create a positive\, team-centered culture throughout Louisa County Public Schools\, and in 2018\, he received the Most Spirited Superintendent Award from the nationally recognized company\, Varsity Brands. In 2020\, Doug was named Region Superintendent of the Year. Under his leadership\, LCPS works as a team to fulfill its mission of helping every student reach his or her maximum potential. Doug lives in Louisa with his wife\, Kate\, who teaches at Louisa County Middle School. He has six children\, all of whom have attended—or are currently attending—Louisa County Public Schools. \nDavid Childress is the director of technology at Louisa County Public Schools. He has over 25 years’ experience working in technology. Under his leadership\, his district innovated solar-powered wireless internet mobile stations that were built by students and provide free Wi-Fi to the community. He has also worked on districtwide solar projects that will save the district $6 million over the next 30 years. \n\nKenny Bouwens is originally from Upstate New York and holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from SUNY Oswego in the area of technology and engineering education. He started his teaching career in Virginia back in 2010 and spent seven years in the classroom. In 2017\, Kenny was honored as the Virginia Teacher of the Year for Technology and Engineering Education. After completing the Educational Leadership program at James Madison University\, he was hired in Louisa County as the director of career and technical education\, STEAM and innovation. Kenny is passionate about innovation and providing quality education for all students in Louisa County. \n\nKeith R. Krueger is CEO of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN)\, a nonprofit organization that serves as the voice of K-12 school system technology leaders in North America. CoSN’s mission is empowering educational leaders to leverage technology to realize engaging learning environments. He is the current chair of the Learning First Alliance and is on the Executive Committee of the National Coalition for Technology in Education & Training (NCTET). He serves on many advisory boards including the Friday Institute at NC State University\, the Public Policy Advisory Council for the American Library Association\, EdTech Digest\, and previously\, the Education Committee of the National Park System. He is Principal Investigator of the Driving K-12 Innovation series. Keith has a global reputation as a key thought leader and has organized senior-level U.S. delegations to visit Australia\, Asia\, Europe\, and South America to examine best practices in ICT in education. \n\nAbout the Host \nAnn McMullan is Project Director for CoSN’s EmpowerED Superintendents Initiative. Ann served as Executive Director for Educational Technology in Klein ISD near Houston\, Texas until September 2013\, when she and her family moved to Los Angeles\, California. For 16 years Ann led the district team that provided professional development on technology and 21st century instructional strategies to 4\,000 educators serving 50\,000 students. She was co-chair of the Texas Education Technology Advisory Committee which developed the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology. \nToday\, Ann works as a public speaker\, writer\, and consultant focused on leadership to meet the needs of today’s students. She also volunteers as a leadership consultant with Executive Service Corps of Southern California\, serving non-profit associations. DESCRIPTION:Want to apply for the Trusted Learning Environment Seal but don’t want to go it alone? Join your peers and collaborate to improve your practices and complete your application. Each month\, we’ll review a TLE practice area\, leverage the ideas and learnings of colleagues\, and develop action steps to make progress on your TLE application. Take advantage of the ability to learn directly from TLE Seal recipient guest speakers\, get access to data governance policy examples\, and hear tips from those who have successfully gone through the process. If you’re committed to going through the TLE application process but your state doesn’t already have a TLE cohort\, this is the place for you. \nParticipants will: \n\nMake monthly progress on their TLE applications\nLearn directly from TLE Seal recipients\nCreate a roadmap for completing their TLE application\n\nThere is no cost to participate in the TLE Workshop\, however\, as part of the pre-work to sign up\, participants must have purchased their TLE Seal application and be committed to submitting it within 2 years of completing the Workshop. \nTLE Seal Application costs:\n$100 small district CoSN members/$200 small district non-members\n$200 large district CoSN members/$400 large district non-members. \nEach district may enroll 2 participants per Workshop\, and a total of 10 districts will be permitted for each session that the Workshop is offered.

Candidates who aspire to achieve the TLE will gain tools and resources to prepare for your Trusted Learning Environment application. \nSince 1992\, the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) has been working with education technology leaders to develop practical resources that help school technology decision-makers provide the kind of leadership their School Systems need so that students can experience technology-rich learning environments. \nLaws are changing\, and the conversations around student privacy are evolving daily.
