While this summit takes place in Massachusetts and references state-specific guidance\, it is designed for all K–12 district leadership teams looking to move from AI awareness to strategic adoption. \nWho Should Participate \nThis summit is ideal for district teams poised to lead strategic AI implementation—especially those seeking to build internal alignment and long-term capacity. If you’re leading planning\, technology\, operations\, finance\, Human Resources\, and/or curriculum planning and development\, your participation will multiply impact. \nKey Outcomes \nYour team will leave the summit with: \n\nInitial progress on an AI maturity assessment tailored to your district’s context\, with guidance on how your team can complete the assessment for all seven domains.\nA comprehensive framework for developing a 6–12-month AI integration roadmap.\nClear\, practical next steps to advance AI integration within your district.\nA framework for stakeholder engagement and leadership accountability to ensure sustainable progress.\n\nWhat Past Summit Participants Are Saying \n\n“I learned so much! The top takeaway for me is that AI is a powerful tool to enhance efficiency.”\n“[Our top takeaway was the] importance of having a group to collaborate from our district — the collaboration was something we would not have otherwise been able to prioritize.”\n“The AI tool created to help us plan our roadmap was extremely helpful and will continue to be helpful when working with our larger team.”\n“[Our top takeaway was having] next steps to take back to the district. We have a solid start to a roadmap and how we will successfully incorporate AI for staff and students.”\n“One of the greatest benefits of the CoSN AI workshop was the protected time for our leadership team to collaborate. It created the space for us to ensure that our approach to artificial intelligence is not an add-on\, but a direct accelerator for our existing strategic plan. The guidance and framework provided were instrumental in helping us build a unified vision and a set of actionable goals for the Madison Consolidated Schools.”\n—Dr. Teresa Brown\, Superintendent\n\nPresenters \n\nPete Just\nTom Ryan\nScott Elder\n\nEvent Details\nDates: January 28–30\, 2026 \nVenue\nThe Verve Hotel Boston Natick\n1360 Worcester St\, Natick\, MA 01760\nRoom Rate: $129/night \n\nLink to register for hotel: https://group.tapestrycollection.com/ensjya\nPhone: 508-653-8800; use group code “907“\nHotel registration cut-off date: January 9th\, 2026. School systems are no exception. In its various forms\, AI can sometimes be an effective help\, but it can sometimes also be a hindrance to the goals and functions of educators. However\, there is no doubt that AI will have a place in the world of the future. And since the role of every educator is to prepare each student to thrive in their future\, AI is a critical part of leading and teaching in schools today. \nIn this edLeader Panel\, three leading-edge superintendents are joined in conversation with CoSN’s AI Project Director. Together\, they will share what they have each come to learn about AI over the past few years. They will describe effective processes and policies for using AI appropriately for teaching and learning\, as well as for multiple other school leadership functions. An overview of CoSN’s free AI resources with links to access them will be shared. \nAttendees of the live broadcast will have the opportunity to pose questions to the panel. This edLeader Panel will be of interest to K-12 district leaders\, school leaders\, education technology leaders\, teachers\, and librarians. \nView all of the recent EmpowerED Superintendent edLeader Panels. \n\nAbout the Presenters \nDr. Bryan Duffie is the current Superintendent of the Alma School District. SUMMARY:We Survived a Cyber Incident: From Readiness to Recovery Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Sessions Everyone Was Talking About Webinar Series \nMissed CoSN2025 in Seattle or couldn’t attend every session? Don’t worry—we’re bringing the most popular\, standing-room-only presentations to you in a special webinar series. Learn from top EdTech leaders from across the country—no travel needed! \nWe Survived a Cyber Incident: From Readiness to Recovery Webinar \nThis story has a happy ending. In January 2024\, the “not if but when” happened to us. We’d been cyber-attacked\, and the bad guys were in the house. \nIt started off with a fairly normal outage. Internal sites were stuck\, and printing stopped working. We halted all network traffic as we methodically checked possibilities: power\, hardware\, network servers/services. Then\, our Manager of Network and Security found it—a service account doing way more than it should. \nHe immediately initiated a quarantine\, isolating all network traffic\, “locking the bad guys in the house” as we began our investigation. The two aims of a cyber threat actor\, 1) exfiltrate data\, 2) lock us out for ransom\, were both mitigated by his quick\, informed action. We survived with little loss to operations and no data loss\, thanks to our plan. Come hear about the preparation and lessons learned from our first cyber incident. \n\nKey Take Aways:\n\nWe shape our workshops through Adult Learning Theory\, emphasizing the expertise participants bring to the session and making ample space to apply new knowledge to existing problems. They will be reflecting on their own security plans and applying our lessons to their own situations.\nHave a plan (CIRP). The worst time to figure out your cyber security plan is the day you need one. Call your network and insurance partners NOW to discuss your CIRP\, not when it happens.\nThe guts: Know your backups and the backup solution/plan\, make sure you’re backing up all servers. Audit admin access regularly. Ensure all accounts and devices\, that can be\, are locked behind MFA.\n\nSpeakers:\n \nLuke Allpress\, CETL\, MEd (he/him/his)\nDirector of Innovative Solutions\nAgua Fria Union High School District\nAvondale\, Arizona \n \nBrandon Gabel\nDirector of Technology\nAgua Fria Union High School District\nAvondale\, Arizona
