SUMMARY:What Systems + AI Actually Enable Powerful K-12 Learning Designs (and Which Quietly Block Them) Webinar
DESCRIPTION:AI can make learning easier—but should it? If AI simplifies access to information\, explanations\, tutoring\, and test prep\, what should learning demand more of from students and teachers? \nIn this thought-provoking webinar\, leaders from Stanford’s Digital Media Academy and CoSN leaders explore how district systems and AI design choices can either raise expectations or quietly limit powerful learning. Looking back at 2025\, one lesson is clear: so-called “soft skills” like deep reading\, collaboration\, mentorship\, self-regulation\, and independent thinking have become hard requirements. \nListen to examine: \n\nHow AI can shift learning from busywork to problem-solving\, creativity\, and critical thinking\nWhy collaborative AI tools matter as much as individual support\nHow interfaces\, agents\, and dashboards shape engagement beyond the chatbot\nWhere trust\, ethics\, and transparency must guide system-level decisions\n\nThis session is for district leaders who want AI to amplify meaningful learning—not just automate it. \nPresenters: \n \nStacy Hawthorne\, Ed.D.\, CETL®\, CoSN Board Chair\, Chief Academic Officer\, Learn21 (OH) \n\nRichard Charles\, Ph.D.\, GSP\, Chief Information Officer\, Denver Public Schools (CO) \n\nGlenn Fajardo\, Chief Learning Officer\, Digital Media Academy (CA) \n\nJohn C Mitchell\, Ph.D.\, Professor of Computer Science\, Stanford (CA) \n  \nAll registered attendees will receive a recording of the webinar. \nAll live attendees will receive a certificate that lists your name (as it appears in our database)\, the event title\, the month and year\, and the Continuing Education Activity (CEA) credits earned. The recording link will include instructions on how to earn a certificate after watching the recorded session.

SUMMARY:Unlocking Value of Investment (VOI) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for EdTech Leaders Webinar
DESCRIPTION:EdTech value doesn’t speak for itself. Leaders do. \nK–12 districts are investing millions in education technology—but too often\, the story behind those investments gets lost. Data lives in spreadsheets. Impact is felt in classrooms. And leaders are left trying to connect the dots for boards\, families\, and communities. \nThis webinar is designed for the leaders who have to tell that story clearly\, confidently\, and credibly. \nJoin a team of experienced K–12 EdTech leaders as they unpack how to translate complex metrics—ROI\, TCO\, and Value of Investment—into a narrative that decision-makers understand and trust. You’ll learn how to connect technology investments to instructional impact\, equity\, efficiency\, and student outcomes\, and how to communicate that value in ways that resonate beyond the IT department. \nThis session goes beyond calculations. It’s about: \nFraming technology as a strategic investment\, not a line item \nAligning data with district goals\, instructional priorities\, and community values \nMaking the case for future investments with clarity and confidence \nEnsuring everyone—from boards to parents—understands why this technology matters \nIf you’ve ever struggled to explain the value of the technology you support—or to secure buy-in for what’s needed next—this conversation is for you. \nBecause the right story can turn technology spending into shared understanding and sustained support. \nNote: The Webinar is free for members and available a low cost for non-members to attend live. And the recording will be posted on our YouTube channel for free for everyone: https://www.youtube.com/@CoSNweb \n \nPresenters: \nFrankie J. Jackson\, CETL®\, RTSBA\nFormer K-12 CTO (TX)\nCoSN Subject Matter Expert \nMichael Flood\, Founder & CEO\, Alpine Frog\nCoSN Committee Member \nMaria Stavropoulos\, CETL®\nDirector of Technology at Northbrook School District 28 (IL) \nWilliam Brackett\, MCITP\, CNE\, Network+\, A+\nDirector of Technology at Oak Park Elementary District 97 (IL) \nRich Platts\, CETL®\nChief Technology Officer at Allegheny Intermediate Unit (PA) \nTony Dotts\, CISSP | CvCISO | CETL® | CCRE\nInformation Security Manager for Community High School District 99 (IL) \nSean Whelan\, CETL®\, CCRE\nDirector of Technology and Operations at Garfield Heights City Schools (OH) \nAll registered attendees will receive a recording of the webinar. \nAll live attendees will receive a certificate that lists your name (as it appears in our database)\, the event title\, the month and year\, and the Continuing Education Activity (CEA) credits earned. SUMMARY:AI District Leaders Action Summit - Boston\, May 13-14
DESCRIPTION:Move Beyond Awareness—Create a Strategic Roadmap for AI Adoption \nMay 13-14\, 2026 – Boston\, MA  \nThis interactive summit supports Superintendent-led executive leadership teams in moving from AI exploration to intentional implementation. You’ll leave with a clear vision\, and a head start on creating a prioritized 6- to 12-month action plan that aligns generative AI with your district’s mission\, values\, and long-term goals. \nWhy Attend \n“AI is revolutionizing how we conduct business in education and will greatly impact teaching\, learning and assessments. It carries possibilities and risks\, and we must plan for it accordingly.” \n– May 2025 Summit participant \nWhat You’ll Experience \nCome ready to roll up your sleeves!  \n\nBring together key decision-makers and stakeholders for protected time to focus on shared planning and alignment.\nExplore how strategic integration of AI capabilities into school district operations is a critical step on the path toward effective adoption of AI tools for teaching and learning.\nGain experience using the CoSN/CGCS K-12 Gen AI Maturity Tool to gauge your district’s current readiness across seven cross-functional domains.\nWork as a district leadership team to build a mission-aligned\, six- to twelve-month implementation roadmap rooted in insights from the maturity assessment.\nLearn how adopting a change management framework can support stakeholder engagement and leadership accountability\, helping to ensure sustainable progress.\nLeave with a clearly articulated rationale for AI integration aligned with your district’s mission\, vision\, and values\, and a Board-ready presentation outlining goals and next steps.\n\nHow does this training relate to the Massachusetts DESE guidance for AI in K-12 Education? \nThe Massachusetts DESE guidance covers a range of important topics related to AI in K-12 education\, including AI literacy development\, academic integrity\, bias awareness and mitigation\, transparency and accountability\, and ensuring instructional quality and equity. \nBuilding on this foundation\, CoSN’s AI District Leaders Action Summit is designed to complement the DESE guidelines. Using the CoSN/CGCS K-12 Gen AI Maturity Tool\, participants gain the knowledge and tools to assess readiness and develop strategic roadmaps across functional domains essential to district-wide AI success and long-term sustainability\, including: \n• Executive Leadership\n• Operations\n• Data\n• Technology\n• Security\n• Legal/Risk\n• Academic AI Literacy \nAttending this summit alongside state initiatives ensures school district leaders are not only aligned with Massachusetts’ vision for AI in education but also prepared with the organizational capacity to turn that vision into reality. \nWhether your district is just beginning its AI journey or already well on its way\, this event will equip your team with the tools and guidance to make meaningful progress towards sustainable and responsible AI adoption aligned with instructional and operational goals. \nNEW! Post-Summit Monthly Virtual Roundtables \nDistrict teams that attend the Summit have the option of adding on participation in a monthly\, facilitated virtual roundtable series beginning after the event. Each session will focus on a strategic topic directly tied to roadmap implementation and will help teams pressure-test plans\, navigate common barriers\, and learn what’s working in peer districts. The roundtables are designed to extend the value of the Summit by providing ongoing opportunities for collaborative learning and knowledge sharing as districts move from planning to action and work to successfully implement their roadmaps. \nCan districts outside Massachusetts attend? \nYes\, absolutely. While this summit takes place in Massachusetts and references state-specific guidance\, it is designed for all K–12 district leadership teams looking to move from AI awareness to strategic adoption. \nWho Should Participate \nThis summit is ideal for district teams in decision-making roles poised to lead strategic AI implementation—especially those seeking to build internal alignment and long-term capacity. \nSuggested attendee roles include: \n\nExecutive leadership (Superintendent\, Assistant/Deputy Superintendent\, or Chief of Staff)\nTechnology leadership (CTO\, CIO\, Technology Director\, or IT Coordinator)\nData and reporting leadership (Data/Assessment Director\, SIS or state reporting lead\, registrar\, or equivalent)\nOperations and purchasing leadership (COO\, Business Manager\, School Business Official\, or procurement lead)\nInstructional leadership (Chief Academic Officer\, Curriculum & Instruction leader\, Principal\, or instructional supervisor)\nAcademic technology leadership (Director of Digital Learning\, instructional technology coach\, media specialist\, or edtech coordinator)\n\nLarger teams of five or more with representation in these areas will maximize the benefit of this strategic planning workshop. If there are other individuals in your district who play a meaningful role in AI-related planning or implementation\, we strongly encourage you to include them as well. \nOur district serves less than 2\,000 students.  Should we still attend?  \nAbsolutely. The readiness assessment and roadmap activities scale to your context\, independent of staffing levels or technical capacity. Smaller districts often have advantages: decisions can move to action more quickly\, communication is more direct\, and teams can adapt with greater agility. So whether your leadership team is three people or ten\, you will leave with a practical\, right-sized plan and clear next steps you can act on immediately. \nWhat Past Summit Participants Are Saying \n\n“This conference greatly improved our capacity and ability to begin our journey on how the district can begin its roadmap on integrating AI responsibly and effectively.”\n– Steven Magno\, Director of Student Services\, McKinney-Vento Liaison\, Peabody Public Schools\n“This was an immensely helpful two-day workshop. The information involved in this AI transformation is overwhelming at times\, but this workshop helped me get a bird’s eye view\, create a roadmap for our next few months as well as our next few years of work\, AND dive into some details. An impressive feat for a workshop. It was also really helpful to hear other districts’ roadmaps at the end of the conference.”\n–  Tina Vanasse\, Assistant Principal\, Acton-Boxborough Regional School District\n“This conference was invaluable to me as a tech director who needs to focus on district readiness for AI in education. Having the opportunity to workshop with your own district team\, colleagues from other districts\, and experts in the field offered the opportunity to clarify the process\, be exposed to other districts process and approach\, and access to incredible resources to make the process easier and more approachable. I will leave here ready to create our district stakeholder team and plan to make this an integral part of our district goals formation and revision.”\n– Dr. Lisa Roe\, CTO\, Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School\n“One of the greatest benefits of the CoSN AI workshop was the protected time for our leadership team to collaborate. It created the space for us to ensure that our approach to artificial intelligence is not an add-on\, but a direct accelerator for our existing strategic plan. The guidance and framework provided were instrumental in helping us build a unified vision and a set of actionable goals for the Madison Consolidated Schools.”\n—Dr. Teresa Brown\, Superintendent\n\nPresenters \n\nPete Just\nTom Ryan\nScott Elder\nSherri Kulpa\n\nEvent Details\nDates: May 13–14\, 2026 \nVenue\n \nVerve Hotel\n1360 Worcester St\nNatick\, MA 01760 \nClick here for reservations: https://group.tapestrycollection.com/m9q5iq \nReservations can also be made by calling 508-653-8800\, or using the Hilton Honors App and entering your group code.
