CoSN is thrilled to announce that its 2025 Driving K-12 Innovation Report has been released, in conjunction with its annual virtual Summit on Wednesday, February 5.
The initiative’s Advisory Board of global EdTech experts is composed of more than 130+ members this year, with more than 60 being quoted in the 2025 report allowing you to hear their insights directly.
Once again, this year’s report features three Hurdles (obstacles), three Accelerators (megatrends or catalysts), and three Tech Enablers (tools) in one digital publication. (Browse the initiative’s 2025 Top Topics.)
The report also invites you to dig deeper into a handful of detailed and/or new content sections, including:
- Bridges: This section looks at key themes that arose in our discussions and surveys. For 2025, Ethical Innovation, Personalization, The Future of Work, and Critical Media Literacy were all areas of interest for the Advisory Board members.
- In Context: This section explores the 2025 Hurdles, Accelerators, and Tech Enablers compared with Top Topics of the previous five years to discover trends through the years.
- NEW! Actionable Insights: Advice to Do More with Less: CoSN’s Driving K-12 Innovation Advisory Board and EdTech Innovation Committee came together for a special joint meeting in December 2024 to brainstorm how schools can continue to innovate while facing budget and resource challenges. This section spotlights their ideas based on the Top Topics.
In the Foreword of the 2025 Report, CoSN CEO Keith Krueger explained that it’s the approach of the report that is invaluable. “Instead of focusing solely on technology as a starting point, it emphasizes the ‘why’ — the Hurdles — before exploring the Accelerators that can drive progress and the Tech Enablers that help make innovation a reality,” Krueger said. “This structure encourages leaders to think holistically about the obstacles their schools face and to envision solutions that align with their unique needs and contexts.”
He added that the Report isn’t necessarily a blueprint with all the answers, but a catalyst for meaningful dialogue. “Whether you agree with the findings or see opportunities for further exploration, the report invites K-12 leaders to engage in conversations about their vision for the future of learning,” said Krueger. “Our hope is that this report will inspire you to reflect, collaborate, and take bold steps toward creating an environment where every student and educator can thrive.”
