Accomplished grant writer, regularly conducts institutes to fund innovative technology programs throughout the nation. 40+year veteran educator, worked as school principal, K-5 teacher, library/media specialist, classroom teacher, assistant professor Lamar University, adjunct professor at McNeese State Univ & Louisiana Tech Univ. Involved in diverse staff development programs throughout the nation involving restructuring schools through the infusion of technology & curriculum enhancements.
1991 NEA/NFIE Christa McAuliffe Fellow, 1990 Louisiana Technology Teacher of the Year, 1992 National Teacher Hall of Fame Inductee, 1998 Louisiana Computer Using Educator of the Year, 1999 McNeese State University Distinguished Alumnus, 2002 National Christa McAuliffe Award winner & 2008 Univ of New Orleans Outstanding Doctoral Student Ed Leadership. Nationally recognized consultant/speaker. Appointed 2010 by FCC to USAC board representing nation’s schools & libraries on ERATE matters. May 2009, ISTE awarded her first Public Policy Advocate of Year Award for work promoting educational technology. Sheryl served on ISTE Standards & Accreditation Committee & serves on numerous national, state, & district committees focusing on role of technology & curriculum integration in changing educational practice. ISTE Making It Happen recipient, Top 100 EdTech Influencer EdTech Digest, National Coalition for Technology in Education & Training Community Builder Award, CoSN Seymore Papert Lifetime Achievement Award, & Lifetime Achievement Award by Learning Counsel, served on board & is past chair of CoSN. Fierce advocate for our schools & champions connecting ALL students with work on the CoSN Policy Committee & ISTE Policy Committee.
