Cary, NC (April 12, 2022)CoSN (the Consortium for School Networking), a premier association of K-12 education technology leaders, today honored Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) with its District Team Leadership Award.

CoSN’s District Team Leadership Award, sponsored by ENA, emphasizes how crucial the full district leadership team is to digital transformation and recognizes an exceptional district team for leveraging technology to improve learning opportunities and access.

“When we found out we were winning the CoSN Team Award, I was proud. That award is not about me, it’s not about a single person. It’s really about the amazing work that our team puts together,” said Marlo Gaddis, Chief Technology Officer, Wake County Public School System.

The Technology Services Division at WCPSS has supported teaching and learning in the last year through tight collaboration with the academics and curriculum divisions. Through these collaborations, they were able to facilitate the planning and implementation of a brand-new Virtual Academy, including the building of curriculum courses within Canvas and the deployment and support of those courses to all schools.

This year, the Technology Services team also partnered with their Magnet Programs team to provide hands-on opportunities for students to learn with innovative technologies. Through partnerships with local companies like Apple, SAS and Microsoft, students have been able to participate in programming activities, such as Hour of Code and Code and Go, and make curricular connections to expand their knowledge of innovative technologies.

“The Technology Services Division is the heart of Wake County Public Schools … We play a vital role, and we have the privilege to be able to work with so many other teams on a regular basis, celebrating those wins with them,” said Trenice Cutler, Project Manager, Wake County Public School System.
