The CoSN Cybersecurity Rubric (CR) Master Class is a virtual workshop to help K-12 district leaders and district teams evaluate and strengthen their overall security posture. Delivered by Master Class trainer(s), this interactive workshop is ideal for district leadership and IT teams seeking to translate complex technical standards into actionable strategies. Through small-group activities, real-world educational scenarios, and guided discussions, participants work collaboratively to benchmark their practices without needing prior formal security credentials.
Structured around the six core functions of the Cybersecurity Rubric framework; Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover, the curriculum guides leaders and teams through a systematic self-evaluation of their district’s digital defenses. Over detailed modules covering governance, technical safeguards, and incident response and recovery, attendees analyze district-specific case studies and map their current maturity levels against NIST CSF 2.0 standards. Participants complete the master class with a baseline cybersecurity audit, a clear understanding of their district’s operational strengths and gaps, and a practical action plan for continuous improvement.
Master Class meets Nov 17 and 18th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET in a virtual 6-Hour Workshop with 2 sessions, 3 hours each day.

You are eligible for 8 CEA hours for CETL® recertification and district professional learning needs by completing 6 hours of live sessions and 2 hours of independent offline work. If a school emergency arises and you miss a session, you are expected to watch the recording and notify the instructor. Certificates will be issued once the instructor verifies final participation at the conclusion of the workshop.
