CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTOLinks to an external site. is comprised of three primary professional categories in the education technology field: Leadership & Vision, Understanding the Educational Environment, and Managing Technology & Support Resources. Each of these categories includes 10 essential skill areas, outlining the responsibilities and knowledge needed to be a viable educational technology leader.
As a corporate partner supporting K-12 schools, CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills is valuable in aligning your efforts with the priorities of K-12 technology leaders. Understanding key areas such as “Leadership & Vision, Educational Environment, and Managing Technology” enables you to tailor solutions to address real school needs, communicate effectively with leaders, and build stronger, long-term partnerships. Upon successful completion of this course, verified by your instructors, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for the CoSN K-12 CTO’s Framework of Essential Skills Foundation Facilitated Online Course for Corporate Members.
This course is equivalent to 16 CEU’s or Contact Hours.

The Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) course for corporate members is designed to deepen your understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the K-12 education sector, enabling you to align your solutions with district needs effectively. Informed by CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K–12 CTO, this program provides insights into the critical knowledge and skills that K-12 technology leaders must master to drive district success. By understanding these competencies, corporate members will gain the strategic perspective needed to support school systems in achieving 21st-century learning environments.
