Student Data Privacy Seal Awarded to Houston-based Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District

CoSN today awarded the national Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in Houston, TX. The district, which is the third school system in Texas to receive the Seal, earned the distinction for demonstrating a commitment to protecting student data through modern, rigorous policies and practices.

New CoSN Briefs Untangle the K-12 Online Tracking and Privacy Knot

CoSN today issued two member exclusive briefs, including a publicly available summary, on the fundamentals of privacy and online tracking for school technology leaders.

The first report details the use of online cookies and tracking technologies and explains the implications for school privacy. The second brief outlines Google Analytics – the widely used free service that measures and captures website and app activity.

Global Leadership

A CoSN senior delegation visited Ontario Canada, last December to learn more about the province’s cutting-edge education system and how they are achieving equity at scale. The Delegation visited classrooms in two very large Ontario school systems (Toronto and York Region), learned from leading Canadian experts, and discussed education policy with government officials. Participants gleaned insights on each district’s* commitment to equity, rigor, and leadership. The subsequent report Equity at Scale highlights three central themes from the visit including:
