EdTech Leaders Collaborate on Comprehensive AI Resource Launched by TeachAI

Washington, D.C. (October 17, 2023) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) is proud to announce its collaboration with leading education organizations and technology experts in co-authoring the AI Guidance for Schools Toolkit, a comprehensive resource released by TeachAI. The toolkit aims to bridge existing gaps in AI guidance and policy for schools and empowers education systems across the globe by providing a framework for the safe, effective and responsible use of AI.

The toolkit offers a wealth of insights and resources, including a framework for incorporating AI in education, real-world policy examples, sample guidance language, and materials tailored for staff, parents and students. Its recommendations are centered around seven core principles:

  1. Purpose: Use AI to help all students achieve educational goals.
  1. Compliance: Reaffirm adherence to existing policies.
  1. Knowledge: Promote AI Literacy.
  1. Balance: Realize the benefits of AI and address the risks.
  1. Integrity: Advance academic integrity.
  1. Agency: Maintain human decision-making when using AI.
  1. Evaluation: Regularly assess the impacts of AI.

“The AI Guidance for Schools Toolkit is an indispensable resource for education leaders worldwide,” said Keith Krueger, CEO of CoSN. “CoSN is committed to fostering innovation and responsible AI adoption in schools, and we are honored to be part of this collaborative effort to ensure that AI is a force for positive change in education.”
