Keith Krueger, CEO for CoSN, issued the following statement applauding the House Education & Labor Committee’s approval of the Rebuild America’s Schools Act of 2019 (H.R.865):

“Committee passage of this bill demonstrates a renewed focus in the new Congress on investing in school district broadband and other infrastructure. CoSN thanks Chairman Bobby Scott (D-VA) and the bill’s 164 co-sponsors for pushing the measure quickly out of the gate in 2019.

“The RASA authorizes needed investment that will build on existing high-speed broadband programs and educational partnerships. It would be a game-changer for promoting digital equity, helping students and communities who need better instructional spaces and access to high-speed broadband.

“As CoSN has underscored for years, investing more in the nation’s educational infrastructure is required to support improved teaching and learning. We urge Congress and the Trump administration to include H.R.865 in any infrastructure package signed into law.”
