Each year, the CoSN Driving Innovation in K-12 reports identify both what hinders and drives innovation in America’s K-12 school systems. Based on the inputs of an international committee of advisors representing K-12 research and practice, each year’s Driving K-12 reports identify both hurdles and accelerators of innovation as well as technology enablers –tools that districts might employ to overcome barriers and drive changes in practice. The CoSN Emerging Technologies Committee then takes a “Deep Dive” into selected topics from the broader Driving K-12 Innovation. In 2019, the Driving Innovation in K-12 report identified learning analytics and adaptive technologies as a key technology “enabler.” In the broadest sense, these technologies collect and use data related to teaching and learning.
