We are excited to reintroduce the K-12 Community Vendor Assessment Tool (K-12CVAT), designed specifically for K-12 solution providers like yourselves to consistently and easily answer district questions about risk. Developed by CoSN in partnership with SETDA, the K-12CVAT offers a questionnaire for solution providers to complete, allowing potential and current K-12 organization clients to evaluate and understand the risks and opportunities of your product or service. The advantage of the K-12CVAT is that, once completed, you can easily provide your assessment to multiple K-12 organizations to streamline and simplify procurement processes.
It’s important to note that the K-12CVAT is modeled after the Educause Higher Education Community Vendor Assessment Tool – Lite (HECVAT-Lite). However, our questions have been tailored to the unique context of K-12 education.
Note that the information you enter on the form will not be shared directly with our members—only that you have filled one out. Neither CoSN nor SETDA will be collecting completed forms—rather, the form is yours to share with K-12 districts considering adopting your product or service.
We will promote the K-12CVAT to our school district members and encourage them to request or require it through their procurement processes. By completing the assessment now, you will position yourself as a leader.

In addition, we will be distributing a digital badge to all vendors who have expressed a commitment to completing or who have completed the K-12CVAT assessment. Displaying this badge will indicate to any potential clients that you are taking this important step to validate your compliance with privacy, security, disaster recovery, and other protocols.
